RPM packages listed alongside the binaries

Install Xi-Batch and Xi-Text with the system's own package manager, and let it handle upgrades, removal and what is on the machine.

The download list now carries an RPM package for every product and platform beside the binary distribution, so an installation can be made the way the rest of a Red Hat or SUSE system is made.

Why it is worth taking

A packaged installation is one the operating system knows about. rpm -q says what is installed and which version; an upgrade is one command; a removal takes out what was put in. The binary distribution still exists and still works, and it remains the right choice on a platform with no package manager - but on a system that has one, the package is less to look after.

It also makes the installation reproducible. The same command on the next machine produces the same result, which matters when the batch schedule is being stood up on more than one host.

Customers running a customised build are covered: blend packages are listed in the same place.
