Xi-Batch 1.7.0 and Xi-Text 1.24.0: version numbers that mean something
The R-numbered line ends and both products move to semantic versioning, starting on the distributions customers were actually asking for.
For three decades the products were numbered in a sequence of their own - Xi-Batch R6.451, Xi-Text R23.500 - which told you which build you had and nothing else. The last releases under that numbering were tagged in December 2023.
Xi-Text 1.24.0 followed in August 2024 and Xi-Batch 1.7.0 in February 2025, both on semantic version numbers, where the parts of the number say what changed.
The first builds went where the demand was: Xi-Text 1.24.0 for Debian 12, then Rocky Linux 8; Xi-Batch 1.7.0 for Rocky Linux 8, then Rocky Linux 9, with Debian 12 packages for both products in April 2025.
Why it matters to a reader of this page
A version you can reason about is the difference between "there is an update" and "there is an update, and here is what it can and cannot change". Everything built since rests on it - the packaging revision that distinguishes a re-package from new software, the release notes that name the release each change ships in, and the portal matching a system to the releases it is entitled to.
