Supported until at least 2035
Customers asked for a longer commitment than 2030 before they would plan around Xi-Batch and Xi-Text. The horizon is now at least 2035.
Software that runs the overnight batch is not replaced casually, and the people who depend on it plan in decades rather than years. Customers told us that a 2030 horizon was short enough to make them hesitate before building new work on Xi-Batch and Xi-Text.
Both products are supported until at least 2035, and extended support beyond that can be arranged case by case.
Why we can say it
The horizon is a consequence of where the products are, not a promise made separately from them. Xi-Batch and Xi-Text are actively developed: this year alone they have had a hardening campaign across every command and service, a root-cause fix for a scheduler stop, new build platforms including Raspberry Pi and SUSE Linux Enterprise 15, and a full move to modern packaging on rpm and deb. The products are built for eight platforms every release and certified on each one.
A supported product is one that is still being worked on. That is the position these two are in, and 2035 states it in the only form that is useful for planning.
