Xi-Batch 1.9.4 and Xi-Text 1.25.7
This year's work reaches both products on every platform we build for: a security fix for linked hosts, an rpm upgrade that keeps the service running, and the tar installer brought level with the packages.
Both products are released today, and they carry the whole of this year's engineering: the scheduler stop that a customer met twice a day, the queue that could not grow past its start-up size, the privilege and input hardening campaign, and a run of installer work that came out of certifying the newer platforms.
What is in it
The two that matter most on an existing system are an upgrade that finishes and a service that is still running when it does. An rpm upgrade now ends with the unit present, enabled and started, and an installation made from a 2025 rpm - which rpm treated as a different package entirely - upgrades in place rather than refusing. Tar installations get the same service unit the packages ship, and on SUSE they get one at all.
Alongside that, two security advisories, XI-SA-2026-001 and XI-SA-2026-002, covering the names in messages between linked schedulers and spoolers. Both were found by our own testing of this release and neither has been reported in use; the fix is in these releases and linked hosts should take them.
Where it runs
Xi-Text 1.25.7 is issued for the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8, 9 and 10 families, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 and openSUSE Leap 15.6, Debian 12 on x86_64 and ARM64, and Debian 13. Xi-Batch 1.9.4 is issued for the same set except the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 family, which follows shortly.
Raspberry Pi OS joined the built-and-certified list this year, and every platform package is built in a clean image of that platform, installed, upgraded over the previous release, started under systemd and exercised with jobs before it is published.
